The Horizon House

Nestled within a large agricultural estate near the coast of Gujarat, The Horizon House emerges from a few acres of reclaimed land as an abode that celebrates aspiration, openness, and a harmonious way of living. The residence is strategically elevated on the site through the excavation of a large lake, allowing every space within the house to enjoy either the sunrise or sunset throughout the year. The site's cool sea breeze inspires the extensive use of generous verandahs, creating comfortable transitional spaces that blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. The man-made lake serves a larger ecological purpose, attracting migratory birds and fostering a self-sustaining ecosystem within the surrounding agricultural landscape.

The architecture is conceived as a thoughtful assembly of materials, including laterite stone, exposed concrete, and timber roofing. This carefully balanced palette breaks the monotony of a single material expression while reflecting the character of the region. Rather than asserting dominance over the landscape, the house complements and enriches its natural environment. The bedrooms are designed as spacious sanctuaries with uninterrupted vistas of both the sky and the ground plane.
